Research traditions are strong at the University of Gothenburg, as distinguished
achievements in widely varying fields bear witness. Some years ago the
Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded to Professor Arvid Carlsson for his
discoveries concerning neurotransmitters in the nervous system.
